Double Bass Consultation & Lessons in Singapore

Specialised guidance for beginners, adult learners, school orchestra students, and bassists seeking clearer progress.

Identify technical challenges, develop more effective practice strategies, and make informed decisions about the next stage of learning.

My Double Bass provides consultation-led support for double bass students, adult learners, and school orchestra members. Support may take the form of a consultation, short-term coaching, or ongoing lessons depending on individual needs.

What brings you here?

Students and families approach the double bass from different starting points.

Choose the situation that best reflects your current needs.

1

I'm New or Returning to the Double Bass

Guidance for complete beginners, adult learners, and and former players returning after months or years away from the instrument.

2

School Students and Parents

Guidance on CCA progress, SYF, DSA, practice expectations, and technical foundations.

3

I'm Stuck or Preparing for Something

Targeted support for technical difficulties, auditions, examinations, performances, and recurring practice problems.

4

I Need Help with an Instrument

Practical guidance on choosing, buying, transporting, and caring for a double bass in Singapore.

Returning After a Break?

Played the double bass in school, university or an ensemble, but stopped when life became busy?

Returning does not necessarily mean starting again from the beginning. A consultation can help assess what you still remember, identify what may need rebuilding, and determine a practical next step based on your present goals and schedule.

Consultations, short-term refresher guidance and ongoing lessons may be considered depending on individual needs. A studio double bass may also be available for suitable initial sessions.

Ways I Can Help

Different Needs Require Different Forms of Support

Not every student needs long-term weekly lessons. The appropriate starting point depends on the student’s goals, current challenges, and readiness.

How to Get Started

Step 1 - Submit an enquiry

Share the student’s background, goals and current challenges.

Step 2 - I review the situation

I consider what type of support may be most appropriate.

Step 3 - Receive a recommended next step

This may be a consultation, short-term coaching, ongoing lessons, or another recommendation.

Student Experiences

Maegan - Double Bass Student

“I’m currently learning double bass under Mr Thomas. He has been a very patient and dedicated teacher, helping me realise and work on my fundamental mistakes. Highly recommended!”

Unsure What Kind of Support You Need?

Submit a consultation enquiry with a brief description of your background, goals, or current challenges. I will review the information before recommending an appropriate next step.
