​Thomas is a dedicated double bass educator and active performer with over two decades of experience teaching students from schools and orchestras across Singapore. His students have consistently achieved distinctions at the Singapore Youth Festival, reflecting his structured and student-centred teaching approach.

Alongside teaching, Thomas maintains an active performing career. He has worked with respected ensembles including the Singapore Chinese Orchestra, The Christian Orchestra, Asian Cultural Symphony Orchestra, Singapore Lyric Opera Orchestra, Ding Yi Music Company, The TENG Ensemble, Singapore National Youth Orchestra, and The Philharmonic Orchestra. His performance work has taken him to international stages in Vienna, Salzburg, China, and Taiwan.

During his National Service (2005–2007), Thomas served as a Double Bass musician with the Singapore Armed Forces Music & Drama Company. There, he developed versatility across multiple musical styles including classical, jazz, classic rock, and Shanghai opera, strengthening his adaptability as both a performer and educator.

Thomas also contributes to music education development. In 2018, he was appointed Double Bass editor for the TENG Academy examination syllabus, where he helped shape learning materials for developing bass students.

​

In recognition of his dedication to student development, he received the CCA Coach Award from Ngee Ann Polytechnic in 2020.

As a teacher, Thomas believes that every student can learn the double bass with the right guidance, structure, and encouragement. His lessons focus not only on technique, but also on building confidence, musical understanding, and long-term enjoyment of music.
