Understanding the basic structures of music is an integral part of being a good bass player. 

 

While Thomas have used Suzuki or other method books as the primary curriculum for his double bass/cello lessons, quite often it is not adequate in adapting students for real-life music situations where they have to listen out for one another, be it in a large or a small ensemble.

 

In order to supplement his teaching, he started arranging pop songs and popular classics for the cello/bass ensembles under his coaching, working with hobbyist music arranger and cellist, Mr Justin Lee Ting Zien.
